Engineer – in – Training | Junior Estimator

Career Progression

  • Immediate total immersion in constructability review, quantity takeoff and  estimate, and project scheduling
  • Manage a project execution and budget within two years
  • Actively pursue Professional Engineer (PE) license within one year
  • Advance to a Project Manager within five years.
  • Identify career focus, interests, and direction and the support to achieve those goals

 

Skills to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university             
  • Experience interpreting civil, architectural and structural drawings
  • Experience with grading, paving, utilities, or building construction preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design, such as On Screen, Timberline
  • Relevant work experience.  Co-op and intern experience is acceptable.
  • Security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain required

Construction Engineer

We need our Construction Engineers to be fully qualified professionals with solid experience and perform as a task leader in construction engineering activities.

Successful Candidates Can:

  • Successfully lead or assist in leading the construction of large airport and/or highway projects.
  • Have a working knowledge of the quality assurance testing requirements for airport projects.
  • Have the ability to work on a highly regulated airfield to ensure that no violations of FAA Part 139 operating rules are violated.
  • Be able to document the progress on projects to meet the FAA’s reporting requirements.
  • Ability to use various types of reporting software.
  • Provide complete and reliable cost estimates that impact business decisions.
  • Work in a supporting role in the management and execution of cost estimating tasks with clients in the national market.
  • Partner with other internal departments to estimate program and construction costs for complex projects.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Skills to Succeed:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Candidate must possess a Professional Engineering license and ability to obtain in multiple states.
  • Minimum of ten years construction field experience in transportation.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Advisory Circular 150/5300-13 pertaining to Airport design and construction.
  • Security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain may be required.
  • Ability to manage projects and work with Clients.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in cost estimating and construction scheduling.
  • Ability to train and develop junior staff.
  • Travel will be required.
